The Exercise
I took an art course that emphasized learning from the Old Masters by copying from them—exactly. It was a struggle initially, but with perseverance this effort becomes more natural and the fruits are evident. For one, you understand that good results require time, patience, and even devotion.

The main focus in one art class was to draw a cast of one of the features of Michaelangelo's David, with the aim of making it appear three dimensional. Here I tried the same thing with a classical drawing, a painstaking process.
