This is the most popular view of Tarxien—the carved spiral. Building began at Tarxien in 3500 BC, but this same design was used at Knowth, in Ireland, in 2500 BC.

The Tarxien Temples, in Malta, were discovered in 1914. The complex spans from 3600-2500 BC, oder than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid. Made of local limestone, they are among the oldest free-standing stone structures in the world.
