We had a similar chest in our house when we lived in Malta. We called it the red chest. It's still in the family. I have one, too, but mine came from a store in Boston.
Inscription on back of card:
This chest of drawers may have belonged to one of the Grandmasters of the Knights of Malta, having for decoration a coat of arms and the Maltese cross. The Knights arrived in Malta in 1532 after being expelled from Rhodes.
This card is blank inside.
