I was sitting at a café on the Rue de France—the street packed with boutiques, cafés, and restaurants—thinking I would watch the world go by. Instead, I ended painting the scene at the café.

The Rue de France is where the shops and the restaurants are. Nice is enormous, and after visiting Cimiez and the Cours Saleya, as well as walking the Promenade des Anglais, I was ready to rest and sketch.
